Overall, an entertaining read that I would recommend. Follett does a nice job of weaving fiction in with historical fact, thereby making the story engaging. Some of it is over the top, but I found that that was what made the read fun for me.

Almost 1000 pages but memorable characters so the story read in bits of time still make sense. Since this is the first of a trilogy, I hope I can remember everyone when I get a chance to delve into the next 1000 page tome.

I'm becoming a big Ken Follett fan. I never thought I'd be interested in such long fictions but I really enjoyed this read; enough that I'm looking forward to the next in the series (I believe there is more on the way).

I do feel that 'Pillars of the Earth' was overall a better book, but the real historical setting of WWI that was added to 'Fall of Giants' gave it something special. ...more
