What Members Thought

I finally got to cross Marquez off my list of author's to read and I wasn't disappointed. I'm also glad I waited to read this book. The story of the 50 years of waiting for the old couple wouldn't have had the same impact on me when I was younger. The themes require at least some ability to put lives in a longer term perspective and understand the differing needs depending on the time of life.

To be honest, I don't know if I liked this book. I enjoyed the beginning very much, thinking that I would enjoy this book so much more than One Hundred Years of Solitude (which I have tried reading several times, but not getting further than 120 pages), but I quickly became bored.
