Kahlil Gibran's The Prophet is short, sweet, and full of poetic prose that speaks about the human experience. Religion is referenced but even those who aren't 'believers' so to speak can still find tons of value in Gibran's work.

So I grabbed this book from my Grandma's bookshelf when she passed away. I had never heard of this guy, but apparently he was quite popular in the 60's. He is the third best selling poet of all time! Only Shakespeare and Lao-Tzu trumped him. I could have liked this more back in my teens, when I was going through my own hippie phase - but my more rational concrete skeptic self emerged after that time period, and all I found in this was a few gem quotes, and a lot of rambling, contradictorial stat
