An astonishingly good book. I picked it up because - well - it's about a butler. Come on. However, I'm amazed at how skillful Ishiguro's writing is. He unveils the story slowly, incrementally, with amazing grace and precision. The characters are well drawn, especially the narrator Stevens. Watching Stevens slowly come to terms with his employer, his career, and his former coworker Miss Kenton is beautiful. ...more

I am always surprised that I love his books so much. I’m not sure why!! They seem slow but they are so well written that I cannot stop reading them!
