I have watched many movie adaptations inspired by this story, but I have to admit that I've never actually read the novella. I just realized that I have this translation version from Gramedia, and decided to read the story (been a while since I read some classics too).
It's quite enjoyable, the gothic vibe is pretty impressive, and the translation is good too. It's not as memorable as Phantom of the Opera, and it's a shorter story, but I can still feel the anguish, deep analysis of morality, and ...more

File this one under "Books You Assume You Know All About But Don't, Really." Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde are well-known characters, but I had never actually read Robert Louis Stevenson’s story until today. It’s a somewhat dark story about clever Dr. Jekyll who discovers a concoction that changes him into a smaller Hulk-type man who has all of Dr. Jekyll’s evil tendencies, instead of the good and bad as most do. It’s got a life lesson warning of greed and lack of discipline. I prefer some of Stevenson’s other works. 3.5 stars!
