I wanted to like this book more than I did. First of all, I kind of feel like the setting could have been anywhere which didn't give me a a strong sense of Indian culture. Yes they're building the Taj Mahal but I don't know I didn't feel like I got a better sense of what India is/was like after reading this book. I didn't know much about the building of the Taj Mahal before I read this book & the story was very interesting. The background research was evident & I always appreciate it when someone takes the time to set their story accurately.
