Classic sci-fi is not a genre I generally read. In fact, this is the first.
Even though I found the whole premise thought-provoking and it does have relevant philosophical questions behind it, I find the whole background, at best, cutely vintage. Made into several film versions, Wyndham's classic tale of alien invasion via implanted infants plays effectively upon latent feelings that perhaps children are predatory. Evil parading as innocence.
