I am sorry I waited so long to read a book by the great British author, Anita Brookner. If you haven't read her works, you are in for a treat. Next up for me is reading her book "Making Things Better" (The Next Big Thing) which was longlisted for the Booker prize. "Hotel du Lac" won the Man Booker prize in 1984. It deserves it. I read it in three days. The "I couldn't put it down" kind of book for me. The dialogues were so intriguing. I know it's posh stuff, but it's like a study in discourse akin to Jane Austin, but set in an era when there was an opening in the moral rectitude parts of life involving sexuality, but not quite yet in how to handle the decency parts.
