What Members Thought

As one of the other reviewers stated: This book hurts. It is a harsh look at slavery in Jamaica. Everything about the story is difficult. Understanding the dialect, reading with horror the terrible discipline as it is meted out on a daily basis, understanding how slaves are considered property and judged for their productivity and only their productivity.
