There is no story that is not true. ... The world has no end, and what is good among one people is an abomination with others.
This was a re-read for me, because my 9th grader will be reading it for her English class, and I wanted to refresh my memory, since the last time I read it was (approximately) 1990-1993.

This was a simply written story about the conflicts between tradition and change. I think the simple structure was what made the book so powerful. There was no commentary embedded into the story rather the reader follows the changing ways of the African tribe and sees how it affects the tribe members. Very interesting and an ending that none of us in book club expected.
