I have mixed feelings about this book. This is the first in the series of Joe Sandilands novels, this one set in the 1920s in British India. Sandilands has been in India to give a workshop and is detained by the governor to investigate a string of murders committed at a small British military station over a period of ten years. Good setting, but the B-plot between Joe and Nancy makes no sense at all and the villain is far too obvious for mystery fans. Too bad - I'd hoped for more from this. ...more
