I bought this after visiting the Pompeii excavation sites in Italy during a trip to the Amalfi Coast. So it was very easy for me to make it all come to life, but Harris also knows how to write an exciting page-turner with interesting tidbits about vulcanology and Ancient Roman aquaducts. Only the last part of the book was a bit too far-fetched and too much like a silly Hollywood movie.

This book was so lame. No plot, no interesting information about the city, and a complete waste of time. The only good thing that it had going for it was that it was short.
