I enjoy reading Jane Austen, but frankly, her books are becoming a bit predictable to some extent. There was a nice twist in this one, but it still sets the reader up for what she expects will happen in the end anyway. After Pride and Prejudice, nothing else that I've read by her even comes close.

My father is fond of saying that chick lit authors are forever doomed because Jane Austen took all the good plots, and I don't think he's far off the mark. Austen definitely set the tone for the romantic comedy of manners and it's a testament to her skill in capturing that delicate dance that her work continues to endure.
