This book is beautifully written, something I don't typically expect from this genre. Great character development too. Looking forward to visiting the detectives again in The Likeness, the second book in the series.

3.5 stars - At first this was an amazing page turner. I could not put this book down; French did an excellent job setting up the story line and the sense of suspense. An unsolved crime with missing children, amnesia and a past held secret sets up the story for a great ride. The problem comes later on in the book where sections of the book are so full of minutiae that it makes you want to pull your hair out.
