I cannot believe how much I enjoyed this book. It's about the life of the main character, Balhram, who starts out as a poor boy who has to quit school to earn money for his cousin's dowry. The story takes off from there and tracks Balhram as he grows into adulthood. The story is dark but extremely humorous as Balhram's narrative covers much of India's culture ranging from its caste system to government corruption to the outsourced workforce that currently makes up Bangalore. Didn't like the epistolary style at first, but slowly got sucked into the story. Great story-telling on class injustice.
