What Members Thought
3.5 stars. But only because there were scenes of graphic violence. The book on the whole isn't violent. It could easily earn a 4 or 5 if violence doesn't bother you. Brooks is a brilliant writer and the story was a smooth read.

Geraldine Brooks takes on tough scenarios, and from what I've read so far, her protagonists are strong women. I find her plots unpredictable and authentic. While not light reading, I always enjoy her stories, and find them uplifting in retrospect.
