If you are late to discover this series like me, you are missing out. I fell in love with the show and then started reading books. I have a whole new appreciation for the show because the book ( season 1 and book 1) closely follow one another but the book has lot's of little historical details and research that just set it over the top. I fast-forwarded thru the torture, humiliation, man-on-man rape and what not. There IS a story here, but it's such work to find it. I may try another volume in print to make it faster to skip the yucky parts.
BFF convinced me there'd be more story so I stayed on, but Fast Forwarded a few times. Disc 19 does have a tiny bit of story that could go somewhere other than bed....we'll see.
