It was a nightmare for me, the way Bertha was treated worse than a beast and a freak show. She got her revenge at least, and was freed from her hell. How can the kind Jane tolerate Rochester? He was the real beast not the tortured Bertha. I loved first parts of the book when Jane hasn't gone there yet ...more
