Shelves: mystery-thriller, sea-creatures, scandinavia

I skimmed a bunch of Goodreads reviews of this, and they all said: I loved the first 2/3, and the last 1/3 was awful. Then I said to myself: silly people! I am determined to like the last 1/3.

Well, guess what? The last 1/3 stunk. Now, I recognize that I am probably in a spectacularly bad mood today, and I read the last 1/3 today. But still. All of a sudden the plot went all sci-fi, malicious sea creatures, people running around talking about dinosaurs, and people acting in ways to did *not* matc ...more

This is the first book I'd ever read that portrayed modern-day Greenlanders and their relationship to Denmark. I was quite fascinated. Plus, I really dug our depressed and math-loving heroine, who looks into the "accidental" death of a Greenlander neighbor boy. ...more
