I have been hearing about this novel for a few years now, and it came highly recommended. After one of my favorite directors, a Mr. David Fincher, decided to make it his own and adapt it into a film, I knew I had to read it.

The reviews always say that this book is impossible to put down, that it's addictive. These things are both true, especially the middle section. Whereas many books kind of get bogged down in the middle or drag a bit in the fourth act, this novel takes a while to get going (ab ...more

The Girls with the Dragon Tattoo begins as a legal thriller that reminded me of John Grisham's The Firm. It is about 100 pages of complete business talk and legalese and I seriously got lost in translation. I probably would have quit reading at this point but since it was picked by my book club, I kept on reading.
