What Members Thought

Exciting and fast paced. It turns out most of the readers in my family had loved this one so I decided to check it out, even though I'm not really a mystery reader. But it was good, and I read it in a day, which was all I really wanted.

marked it as did-not-finish
I'm crying uncle on this one. Maybe I'll try again another time.

This seems like it might be a great book, but I've been having a hard time finding the time to devote to it. All the Swedish names are confusing for my American brain. I'm about 100 pages in, and still waiting for the mystery to start - I have no idea where this story is going. ...more

A bit slow at first and bogged down with corporate politics/financial swindling, but after that it was engaging and entertaining. Was definately not anticipating the twist that came towards the end re: the family secret. There were some gramatical mistakes and inaccuracies in American vernacular but that is a by-product of being a translation, but nothing that was so off-base you don't understand what is being said.

I think there are two kinds of books I give five stars to: terrific books about social/political/current events issues that expand my worldview and make me feel like I can change things (yes, Kurts..."books that make Madeline angry"...whatever :), and terrific fiction that captivates me without having to be political (though some of my favorite fiction is very political). This book falls into the latter category. I just couldn't stop reading it. The plot takes so many creepy and unexpected twist

I only have 20 pages left- I can't believe I have to work all day and can't finish- how did I let this happen??

The book is great! It was a bit slow to start, but then it picked up and then it got even more exciting (after about 200 pages). I loved it! the finance stuff to me was a bit confusing, but it was not key to the story. Some of the motives were quite disturbing though. I will definitely be reading the second (and possibly the third) book too!

Took me a while to get into it. i re-read the first 20 pages a few times. But once I got past the beginning I couldn't put it down.
Page-turner, good to read while traveling. Read like a movie, reminded me of the Dan Brown mysteries. ...more
