My Interest
Elizabeth Acevedo is truly one of THE voices of her generation. Her fiction captivates with its rich language, believable characters, and storylines that pull you in and let you experience the characters’ world. I’m so glad that I listened to her fine audio performance of The Poet X–for now, I prefer her writing on audio, especially if she is the performer.

This book is amazing. If anything, it has too much going on. At times, I felt like it dragged on, but how could it not? So many moments in hundreds of pages. So much poetry. It's work of art. Read it quickly to feel the rhythm of each scene, or savor the beauty of each stanza slowly, revisit. Brava. I wish I'd been able to read it when I was a teen. ...more
