Excellent book about a time in history I didn't know much about. A time when the Japanese invaded China before WWII and the Chinese government evacuated their universities and had students and professors walk thousands of miles to safety in the interior of China. It had a touch of fantasy and Chinese gods. The characters were compelling. I enjoyed this book so much.
