I thoroughly enjoyed this story and I'd definitely recommend it to others. Some reviews are saying it's not a good or even accurate representation of India, maybe not.. but the story is awesome and that's what mattered to me. I'd read a non-fiction if I wanted more accurate info.

Fascinating story full of culture and growth

There was a lot about this book to like. I was fond of the narrator. The place and the people really came alive for me. I liked that even the “bad” characters were human, with good and bad qualities. The only real criticism I have is that Radha, the younger sister, was really, really annoying and hard to like. I know I should have been sympathetic to her, since she was a child, but I kept feeling like she was such a selfish, thoughtless, conniving brat.
