As shown by Stephen King's Pet Sematary (1983) and many other versions, this is one of those classic stories that can be adapted endlessly. One of the best and creepiest endings there is, but also sad in a way.

I am finally done reading my 6th graded reader. . .after 4 months 😃 I am in maintenance mode with Chinese right now and the only touchpoint I have with the language is my weekendly session with my tutor, who has been following my progress since Oct. 2021.
