This book follows the pattern of the other books in this series, and I raced through it. One gripe I have with the author-I get tired of the over-explaining. Seriously, who is going to start reading at number 10 in a series, and need all those explanations and reiterations of previous chunks of story? If you took all those out, the book would be about half the size, and that's how this one feels:as if there are some interesting plot bits sandwiched between repeat bits. I think that Harris should

This has been my least favorite of the Sookie Stackhouse novels. It was just...boring. And slow until the last two chapters. I'll still continue to read the series, but the folklore and Southern charm which Ms. Harris infused throughout the earlier novels has begun to fade.

I was so excited to read this, I couldn't wait for my library copy, so I went to B&N and bought the book.
Enjoyable, but not the best Sookie book ever. I felt like a lot happened, but nothing was resolved. It was a non-ending ending - more suitable to the ending of a chapter than the ending of a book. Plus, I felt bad for everyone in the book, seems like everyone's life (except maybe Tara's) is going south. ...more

311 pages and no plot. If a book with no plot can have a climax, it was on page 306. I usually like these books as a fun escape, but I'm afraid it's going the way of Laurel Hamilton's Anita Blake series. I guess with the HBO series comes a lot more sex.

I liked this book better than many others in the series. The Russian royalty angle was entertaining. I also liked how we got to learn a bit more about Bill and Eric's backgrounds.
