L. Frank Baum, the author of one of the most popular children's series of all time, the Oz books. Maud Gage Baum, daughter of one of history's great activists for women's rights. Judy Garland, child actress making the motion picture that would create her reputation, the movie that has, it's thought, been seen by more people than any other movie, The Wizard of Oz.

What an interesting read. Tells the story of L. Frank Baum’s widow, Maud Gage Baum, on the set of The Wizard of Oz, with flashbacks to the life events that made up this story. Theirs is an interesting story on its own, but its incorporation into the magical Wizard of Oz and the story of how it was filmed- in Technicolor- really gave depth and interest. Recommend to anyone who wants a different, deeper perspective on this American classic.
