Eighteen year old females Rosie and Alex decide to take a gap year in Thailand when they disappear. Their parents get the English police involved and journalist Kate Waters picks up on the story. Soon the case becomes very personal for Kate. The story alternates between the POV's of Kate, DI Sparks, Alex's mother and Alex.
