It's about the role that Palestinian women are forced to play within their families, as wives, mothers and daughters. The story begins with Isra, a Palestinian woman, who via an arranged marriage, moves to US with her new husband. Isra hopes that American will bring a change in circumstances for her, where she will have more freedom, and dare she say it, find love with her new husband. Excellent. I'm so glad it arrived in my library in box with just enough time to read it before my book club would meet, otherwise I am afraid I may have skipped it!

I liked this book a lot although I have mixed feelings about the outcome and not sure what the author is trying to say about being a woman.
One of the best books I've read in a long time.
