Cum mi s-a parut mie povestea? Destul de slabuta si in niciun caz cum ma asteptam. Cu cateva mici excepții, nu a reusit sa ma captiveze. Am fost curioasa sa o citesc, fiind o carte pe care o vedeam peste tot. Multa luma o lauda, existand si sceptici. Nu ma declar sceptica, dar nici in categoria celor care o lauda nu sunt.
Multe scene mi s-au parut fortate. O parte din poveste mi s-a parut neverosimila. Ce mi s-a parut extrem de obositor a fost dialectul folosit. Am citit traducerea ...more

Where the Crawdads Sing is an incredibly deep and moving novel that I have no doubt I will forever remember. It is a mind-blowingly poignant debut and easily one of the best books I have read so far in 2022. This is exactly the kind of novel that will be the first in my mind when I think of recommendations.
Echoes of To Kill a Mockingbird, along with beautiful descriptions of nature, on a macro (marsh, ocean, weather) and micro scale (fireflies, praying mantis, seagulls).
I could have rated it five stars, perhaps, if my reception of the book was not affected by reading a spoiler while perusing an article on Delia and Mark Ownen's past life and adventures in Africa.

Why didn't anyone help a young girl all alone with no parents, food etc.? Instead ridicule her! Ugh, will things ever change in this world!

So slow, I had to listen to the audiobook. The nature descriptions were quite vivid; I learned a lot about animals.
