I do enjoy Flavia ... and thought I might need a bit of a break from this series but the way this one ended I know I will be back soon! 4/B

Another rip-roaring episode in this series. In this one, Flavia is not so much sleuthing a mystery but having the mystery evolve around her. Excellent fun!

Flavia strikes back! This latest installment actually talks more about De Luce family (finally!!!) and all the mysterious background of the disappearance of Hariet, Flavia's mother. Unlike the previous Flavia's mysteries, this time I can actually guess who the culprit is since the middle of the book. But still, the family history is interesting enough as the main story of this book. Can't wait for next Flavia adventure!! ...more

Definitely a book to be read as a part of the series. I don't think this book would stand alone as some of the others would. A transitional part of the overall story it will delight Flavia fans. I would not recommend to anyone who hasn't read the others. ...more
