A horrific true crime story that, despite its exhaustive details, manages to be neither lurid or exploitive. This is testimony to the strength of McNamara's writing, and makes it all the more poignant that she died before completing this book--and before the Golden State Killer was apprehended.

A powerful look into the history of the GSK who was responsible for 50+ rapes and 10+ murders over 30 years. This book was written by a compulsive armchair internet detective who researched this cold case for years, leading to articles and this book, which likely influenced the investigation and the ultimate arrest of the probable man responsible, two years after the author's death.

Great story of Michelle McNamara and how she kept the story alive. So many details in this book and never realized how many computer detectives we have at home. The tragedy is that it took far to long to bring this guy to justice. All the victims in the 70's still will see no justice.
