What Members Thought
I finished this book in the sense that I had to skim (and skip parts) of the last third. Overly long for the little that happens in it. Then when a couple things DO happen near the end, it's rushed and almost glossed over. Was going to give it 2 stars but the sense of relief when I finally put it aside leads me to one star. How this book got the rave reviews/5 stars I will never know....

I found this book predictable and somewhat cheesy, though I did finish it. The basic premise was a good one- daughter raised overseas returns to the family roots and loyal family servant enlightens daughter to the family stories she didn't know about her mother and grandmother. It could have been so much better.
