More like 2.5 stars. Definitely a quick read, but weird and depressing.

Suspenseful and horrifying. The story was well told but too disturbing for me. Might appeal to fans of Thomas Harris (Silence of the Lamb) or Stephen King. What I enjoyed most was getting the perspective of multiple characters - getting out of Laurel’s head and seeing how everyone else was making sense of what was happening - that’s what kept me reading to the end.
This one will probably be talked about in some book clubs and likely at my local library. I found it to be decent writing but predictable in several areas. Fast read for sure - maybe good for a weekend away or a day curled up cozy or else by the beach.
Even though I figured out the mystery about halfway through, I still loved the unraveling and the way the book ended.
