Circe este o carte care m-a captivat inca de la inceput. Am citit pentru prima data Legendele Olimpului la varsta de 12 ani si apoi la 20. Si m-am bucurat sa descopar in acest roman personajele mult indragite ale mitologiei grecesti. Fie ca vorbim despre zeii mari (Zeus, Atena, Apollo, Artemis) sau despre titani (Oceanos, Helios), nimfe, nereide, naiade, driade, oceanide, eroi (Odiseu), monstri (Minotaurul) vrajitoare (Circe) - toate personajele sunt foarte bine conturate. What a great book! I was not really big fan of mythology during my high school years. In fact, I used to dread having to learn about all of the different gods, goddesses, Olympians, etc. However, Miller has found a way in which to tell these stories in a way that is captivating, thoughtful and heart-wrenching. I loved this (although the ending felt... a little rushed, maybe? I can’t put my finger on it). It weaves together the stories I love from The Iliad, The Odyssey, and The Aeneid - and now I want to go back and reread the last few books of The Aeneid. It vindicates my feelings about Odysseus, provides a great perspective of the gods, has a fantastic protagonist, and is beautifully written. I’m sad it’s over.

Guys, guys! This book is amazing! It is truly astonishing the way that Miller breathes life into myths of old. The characters, setting, and stories are unforgettable and her prose is gorgeous and strong. So, so good! If you have any interest in mythology or beautifully drawn, strong characters, I highly recommend this book! #ReadingEurope2020 #Greece
