I had a hard time getting into this book at first, mostly because I read it so close to LeGuin's Lavinia, and the (somewhat) similar topic/timeframes caused me to compare and contrast the two much too closely. But by about 1/3 in, the book finally grabbed me and I found it enchanting, beautifully written, and heartbreaking. Very unique, compelling. Had it been amazing all the way through, I would have given it 5 stars. As it is, a wonderful book. 4.5 stars. ...more
