This was the May 2020 selection for South Austin Spiritual Book Group.
It is rare that I finish a 325 page book in four days. That's how good this was.
In the end, what I am left with is the courage it took to publish this. The author is only 34 years old. Her entire nuclear family is still alive, mostly working in the family business back in Idaho. The three siblings who got an education took it all the way to PhD, and they're the ones who are no longer accepted by their parents.

This was such a great book. Almost an unbelievable story. I am so impressed by her willpower and accomplishments. One person’s struggle, perseverance and ultimate success against very difficult and compelling circumstances. Definitely the best book I read in 2019.
Fascinating, well written, hard to put down. Chilling that the author’s parents could see the abuse going on in their home, but did nothing. Amazing that she’s come through even vaguely whole after those experiences.
Interesting that her mother has come out w a book of her own to counter this memoir.

This memoir is a gripping tale of self discovery and questioning your own view of reality versus what you've always been taught. I really recommend everyone read this book.
