So this is apparently my first 5 stars book of the year!!!
It’s heartbreaking and heartwrenching, but also very heartwarming, full of hope, love, and friendship in the midst of one of the most devastating epidemics in history.
I fell in love with all characters, the gay boys from the 80s living in Chicago, where one by one they were caught in the AIDS storm- but still, there’s always hope for better days.

This book follows alternating timelines between 1980s Chicago during the AIDS epidemic and modern day Paris. The characters in the 1980s timeline are mostly gay men, many who have been infected with HIV. Little is known about the disease or how to treat it, and members of the community are quickly dying. Meanwhile in modern day Paris, Fiona, who lost her brother to AIDS in the 80s, is looking for her estranged daughter.
