The book is alright, the writing is good. I, however, need to recognize that YA drama is NOT for me. I felt deeply for Izzy, Mia and Pearl. The Richardson's were callous and unfeeling people who used other people and didn't even take notice of it.

This is really a 4.5. I read (listened to) this at a busy time, so this book didn’t suck me as much as it might have. It may be worth revisiting. This is the story of an unassuming and actively seeking to be anonymous artist and her teenage daughter, who move to Shaker Heights, a Stepford-ish town. The idea is to finally settle down so Pearl (the daughter) can finish high school. It took me a little time to settle into the reading, but once I did it was so easy to continue. People and their relationships were constructed and stories were revealed with such care. I didn’t really know what the book was about so didn’t expect to think so much about the ties that bind mothers and daughters, or what criteria determine who is a good mother. Still thinking about whether Mia was too much the good guy to the Richardson brood, if Lexie and Trip will change in ways that last, how P
