The first half of the book was like a boring YA novel. The characters there were mainly teenagers. As I read it I was so sorry I'd recommended this book for our local reading club. However about half-way through the story picked up and some adult characters and situations began to take center stage. At that point the novel became tolerable, and even a bit interesting.

I liked this book but it did get a little monotonous in bits. There were a few good issues to consider that really do not have a correct answer and would make excellent discussion points for a book group. It was a bit unnerving recognizing the similarities to my own life as we live in a “planned” community like Shaker Heights.
