First book in Louise Penny's Chief Inspector Armand Gamache of the Sûreté du Québec. Takes place in the small village of Three Pines located south of Montréal. Some nice character development.

Audiobook. I rarely read mysteries but this was nice, with its focus on characters and community. Felt like I really learned the texture of Three Pines, rather than being entirely focused on the whodunnit. I guessed maybe 70% through but couldn’t figure out a motive and then got thrown off. Really liked the narrator.
