I liked this book, although I felt sorry for Eleanor all the way through. The story is intriguing and it makes me wonder just how many other people are going through life in situations like Eleanor's, people that we dismiss, or ignore, or just don't treat as nicely as we should. The tragedy that happened to her is unconscionable, and it is no wonder she had trouble dealing with life after that. I was initially drawn to this book because the title character and I share the name of Eleanor. I was immediately taken in by this odd and interesting character. She was so well adjusted to her sad lonely life that she didn't seem to realize what a miserable existence she was living. The book is about her finding her way out of this solitary existence to a more meaningful life.
