I really enjoyed this book and I didn’t finish the first time in part due to it being automatically returned to the library. It took me a long time to place it back in the queue, but I am so glad that I finally did. The prose is fantastic and I found the narrator’s voice so soothing. I finally had a better grasp of the story as the first time around I was more distracted. Sometimes it is all about timing.

In the author’s note she writes that she ‘hopes that this book serves as a starting point for education and empathy’ on the Syrian refugee crisis. Mission accomplished.
