Loved this one! Enjoyed both storylines and how they blended together although I have to say the spy storyline was definitely my favourite. Didn't want to put it down... and didn't skim because there was not stuff that didn't need to be there. Definitely recommend!

Beautiful story line, likable characters, interesting intertwined plot from World War I and II, and some badass stories of woman spies!!
In the beginning, the flow is a bit slow, and it takes time to warm ourselves to the characters, especially Eve (a bitter old cow, said Charlie). But in the end I was hooked and enjoyed the story a lot. Look forward to reading more of Kate Quinn's books!! ...more

Hats off to the writer who got me into historical fiction. This is the second of hers I've read, the first was The Huntress. This was more substantial, despite being longer.
Bonus points for a road trip through France and references to Baudelaire. ...more

Ay... I'm battling my inner book snob. This book was just what I was looking for and was enjoyable to read. I'd say it's a great summer beach read. It's not high literature but it is well-written and touches on lesser know role of female spies in WWI.
I haven't read too much of this genre but it reminded me of "El tiempo entre costuras" by Maria Dueñuas or The Time In between. I enjoyed that one as well.
