Men Without Women are the loneliest men in the world, according to Murakami.

I'm not generally a big fan of reading short stories, because just when I get into the characters and the story, the story ends. I'm not really sure how many books by Murakami I have read, 10, 11? Although I don't always like short story collections, I enjoy Murakami's short stories as well as his novels. Having said that, this collection is a little uneven. My favorite by far is Kino, because it is a typical Murakami story, with all the elements that we expect: A lonely bartender, jazz, cats, the city, shabby hotels. ...more

I'm actually going to review three short story collections at once, since I read them all in quick succession, Bad Behavior by Mary Gaitskill, Men Without Women: Stories by Haruki Murakami, and Joshua Ferris's The Dinner Party and Other Stories.

Three different authors each with their own particular short story voice and all fantastic in their own particular way.
