A very enchanting, intriguing read. Reminded me of the old Sam Spade or Philip Marlowe private investigator stories where the investigator goes from person to person, place to place, and event to event until he finally reaches the answer at the end. This might sound boring in itself, but the mix of all the fantasy really hooked me and kept me reading. I was almost late to work because I was on the last chapter and just had to finish. After some of my recent reading -- there's been some heavy stuff there, interspersed amongst all the comics -- Seanan McGuire was a pleasant respite. This isn't to say that Rosemary and Rue is all roses (despite their prominent featuring in the story); there's plenty of action in this, with betrayal, near-death experiences, favors and curses. Still, it's lighter in its themes -- it's a book that feels much more interpersonal in nature; when it deals with big themes, it's in less of a questioning
