Good book with a story that reminded me of what might have happened next after the ending of the movie Castaway.
For the first 2/3 of the book, I was really caught up in the love triangle between Emma, Sam and Jesse. Who will Emma choose and why? I thought that Reid does a good job of digging deep into what love is and the emotions of all the characters who are impacted by Jesse's return. In all fairness, this book was left behind by a houseguest and I was ready to read a “lighter” book. It’s definitely a quick and harmless read—acceptable for poolside or other summer reading. I’m not going to delve into characters or plot or themes bc not much to say critically.
I did like the lines :
“Just because something isn’t meant to last a lifetime doesn’t mean it wasn’t meant to be. We were meant to have been.” and “I am who i am because i loved you once.”

I like the premise of the story, but sometimes Emma the main character is so annoying, especially near the end of the book when she already made her decision.
I think this book also took some issues (like PTSD) in a bit too light tone. But overall, the story is still enjoyable since the writing is (as usual) effortlessly fluid. ...more
