What Members Thought

If I have one regret after reading this book, it's that I finished this book stone-cold-sober. I feel like it demanded a glass of wine or six; preferably from a box.
Schumer is hilarious (knew that), whip-smart (knew that), and freakishly vulnerable (probably should have known that, but alas).
I will be there for anything this woman does for as long as she wants to do it. ...more

This is not a book I would normally choose to read. I'm not a big fan of Amy Schumer, I don't watch her show or any of her stand up. I was intrigued by all the amazing reviews of her book. Many of them stating they also weren't typically fans of her work but loved her book. It turns out they were right. She is definitely raunchy throughout the book but she is also funny, honest and very human. A no apologies, in charge woman who tells it like it is. There are a few chapters I would love for my n

This is not what I expected from Amy Schumer. I saw her stand up live in NYC at a smallish venue a few years ago (where she picked on me since my friends forced me to sit closest to the stage) and I've loved her ever since. Not because she picked on me (I was dreading that), but because she IS hilarious. If you are looking for a book of jokes, move along! This is not a script of her stand up. Yes, it's full of funny antidotes but there are some tear jerking stories, learned life lessons and you

I wasn't sure what I was going to make of this book but I really enjoyed it. I appreciate the empowering message for women and it's also pretty funny. It's nice to read a memoir that doesn't hold back on the embarrassing moments and still celebrates this. I'd recommend it.

I really enjoyed this book, mostly because I love what Amy is doing to the way we think about women who speak publicly. I think the honesty here is really compelling, and the conversation about being a successful woman who exists outside conventional standards of behavior, appearance, and lifestyle.

Option 1: Schumer is funny, down to earth, honest person.
Option 2: Amy is a lying narcissistic joke stealer.
I'm really torn on this one. Either way, the book was exactly what I thought it'd be when my hubs bought it at BJs for me last year. ...more
