If you want a bit of medicine for feeling down in the dumps, I recommend Little Men.
Jo, of Little Women fame, is now a grownup and a wife and a mom and a writer. She works her magic on boys who are living in rough circumstances. I found the story pushed, at times, over the believability-in-the-power-of-transformation gauge, but maybe I just needed this so much right now that I closed my eyes now and then. We need some hope sometimes, people.
