Wow. So, I decided to read this book without taking a look at the synopsis. All I knew was that it fulfilled a reading challenge as a “genre-bending” book. Was it fantasy? Science fiction? Horror? I had no clue.
And I remained that way for a good portion of the book. It felt like I was pushed out of a helicopter, flailing and plummeting into the open ocean, hundreds of miles from land.

DNF. Gave up after the first 72 pages. I bought the book based on a bookstore staff recommendation and the description on the back (unusual characters, interesting story idea), but what I’ve read so far is just confusing, weird (not in a good way), and rambling. Maybe it gets better?
very unique book. Very much enjoyed it.
I had trouble keeping all the time sequences and subplots straight, but I liked the dogs.
this was a 3.5 read for me
